In the official blog post the software giant stated, "Bing apps bring the content that matters the most to you in one gorgeous experience. These apps make the stuff you care about – news, finance, weather, sports, travel, food, health – visually vibrant, easy to use, and available at a glance when working side-by-side."

The new Windows 8.1 operating system features larger tiles, while including the brand new Bing app right in its Start screen. In addition Microsoft told customers to expect two new apps the Health& Fitness app and Food & Drink app.

The Health & Fitness app is a special app that concentrates on proper diet regiments, exercise and aids in tracking health and workouts. It also features step-by-step instructional videos that cover 1000 different exercises and 220 workout, aimed to target all muscles of the body. This is an ideal app for fitness nuts.

For those of you who call themselves a foodie, Microsoft has unveiled the Food & Drink app which features a hands-free cooking mode allowing you o move through every step of a recipe without having to touch the device. This new app is great for stay-at-home mums, and chefs. With many savory delicacies included anyone can cook without having to touch the device and messing it up. Microsoft To Include More Updates In Windows 8.1

It is true that with the advent of smart phones and touch computers, Microsoft started to lose its customers to other operating systems. Windows 7, which comprised of the basic features, was not found suitable to run on these modern devices. Hence, Microsoft was forced to launch a new operating system, which could provide the customers a modern and hassle-free computing experience. Windows 8 was thus launched as the next big thing to watch out for in the tech field. There were many new features in the new operating system, which the users found appealing in the initial stages.

However, in the long run, Windows 8 garnered more criticisms rather than appreciation for its so-called advance features. Most users who did the Windows 8 upgrade complained about the unavailability of simple and convenient features in it, and the consequently tiresome computing experience. Some users even said they were finding it difficult to perform basic functions such as rebooting, because of the absence of Start button in the desktop. Hence, what promised to be a revival strategy for Microsoft fell flat on its face and thus forced the software giant to launch a modified version of Windows 8, to placate customers.

Microsoft tweaked some of the existing features of Windows 8 and included some basic features as well in their latest version of the operating system i.e. Windows 8.1. In this version, the most noticeable change is the return of the Start button to the desktop, which once the user clicks on it would bring up a hovering version of the Modern UI similar to Windows 8. Here, users would be able to view a customizable menu of files to start the applications. In addition to these, bug fixes have also been introduced in Windows 8, in order to provide an advanced operating system without any flaws.

Some of the applications in this operating system would definitely attract users who had earlier done a Windows 8 upgrade, to migrate to Windows 8.1. These applications include a food-and-drink app, which works using your computer’s camera for touch-free navigation. This means that the user would just need to simply wave their hand in front of the computer’s camera to navigate, without touching it. Snap view is another feature that makes multitasking much easier.

Windows 8.1 finally seems to have revived Microsoft’s fortunes in the tech arena. It is also certain that the Redmond-based software giant would be coming up with frequent updates, to make Windows 8.1 a flawless operating system.
