Why Is Windows 7 A Good Choice To Replace Your Windows XP OS

After the end of support for Windows XP operating system, many users are in search of the best operating system to which they could upgrade their machines. Many people even called the Windows support number to choose the best operating system. Windows 8 and Windows 7 are the two operating systems that are considered ideal to make an upgrade from Windows XP.

Now, which is the better operating system between the two? The answer could vary as both the operating systems have their own advantages and disadvantages. In this post, we will concentrate only on Windows 7 operating system and go through its various features.

User interface

When compared to Windows Vista, Microsoft introduced Windows 7 with many changes in the user interface. Some of the improvements included the new taskbar and aero interface. The taskbar lets you pin programs to it with the simple drag function. The aero feature makes it easier for you to view the different tabs that are open and switch among them.

Power management

If you are using a laptop, then one of your concerns would be its battery life. Windows 7 comes with various power management techniques that will help you to cut down battery drainage. The operating system boots faster than its predecessors and shuts down quickly.

Calculator

Until the arrival of Windows 7, most of the calculators that came preinstalled with the operating systems helped you only with the basic statistical and scientific calculations. However, the calculator in Windows 7 comes with many features like hourly wages, gas mileage etc.

New media center

With Windows 7, Microsoft has upgraded its Media Center program. Many additional tools have been added to the program and this helps you to experience a new world of entertainment.

Customizations

You can find a wide range of new themes and wallpapers for the operating system. The operating system also allows users to customize the fonts and settings as per the requirements of the user.

Versions

Windows 7 comes in numerous versions with Windows Starter as the base edition. Other editions include Windows 7 Home Basic, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 7 Enterprise.

Among the various versions of Windows 7, Windows 7 Home Premium is considered as the best choice for home users. This version offers you most of the features at an affordable price. With Windows 8.1 in the market, customers are very anxious to get their hands on the new improved version of the Windows 8. One of the prominent apps that come pre-installed in Windows 8.1 is the Bing app, about which Microsoft made an official blog highlighting some of its cool and new features, as well as introducing two new apps in the suite.

In the official blog post the software giant stated, "Bing apps bring the content that matters the most to you in one gorgeous experience. These apps make the stuff you care about – news, finance, weather, sports, travel, food, health – visually vibrant, easy to use, and available at a glance when working side-by-side."

The new Windows 8.1 operating system features larger tiles, while including the brand new Bing app right in its Start screen. In addition Microsoft told customers to expect two new apps the Health& Fitness app and Food & Drink app.

The Health & Fitness app is a special app that concentrates on proper diet regiments, exercise and aids in tracking health and workouts. It also features step-by-step instructional videos that cover 1000 different exercises and 220 workout, aimed to target all muscles of the body. This is an ideal app for fitness nuts.

For those of you who call themselves a foodie, Microsoft has unveiled the Food & Drink app which features a hands-free cooking mode allowing you o move through every step of a recipe without having to touch the device. This new app is great for stay-at-home mums, and chefs. With many savory delicacies included anyone can cook without having to touch the device and messing it up. All you have to do is wave your hands in front of the device’s camera.

Microsoft also added, “Whether you update your Windows 8 device or buy a device with Windows 8.1, I can’t wait for everyone to be able to try these new apps. You’ll be able to do this starting October 18th!"

The new Windows 8.1 will also carry the essentials like Bing News, Weather, Finance and Sports all in exclusive apps. These new features and tools in Windows 8.1 is surely great news for many prospective customers. Hopefully these apps, which seem to establish a personal connection with the device, salvage Microsoft’s lost reputation, much of it lost due to the original Win 8 operating system. Windows 8.1 is a free update for those who already own a Win 8 license.
